Lacie: Husky Mix Dog Portraits in McKinney, Texas

On Saturday, I met up again with the Bolton family for my 4th time to photograph them, but this time rather than their human daughter being the star, the focus was put on their pup Lacie. They rescued this gorgeous husky mix from a shelter when she was about four-years-old. They had gone in looking for a friend for their first husky, and happened across a pure white dog with the most gorgeous blue eyes. She was in pretty bad shape at the time, but as they gave her love and nourishment, and she got some weight on her, she changed in other ways too - her fur turned from white to the beautiful blonde she's rocking here!

I love the fun, happy photos that we captured at this session, and I wish I could say that it was all about fun and happiness, but what sparked this session in the first place is undeniably sad. Lacie has cancer that has metastasized very quickly, and it was important for the family to have photos of her and her sweet personality while she's still feeling good. Especially with their daughter being so young, they don't want this important family member to be forgotten! As my great danes get older and I worry about the breed's too quickly approaching average life expectancy, I can totally understand the sentiment. These loving animals are never with us for long enough.
