Downtown Dallas Engagement: Sara & Cullen

This wasn't truly an engagement session in that Sara and Cullen were already married. They did still have a wedding to throw though! That's a bit of a long story, but suffice to say that I photographed these pseudo-engagement portraits and the second wedding back in June. With the craziness of the last few months, I'm only sharing them now.

I had a lot of fun with this shoot. As the suburbanite that I am, I don't spend a lot of time downtown. I used to ride the train down to the Arts District pretty often, and I've been to Stars games at Reunion and American Airlines arenas, but that's just about the extent of my familiarity with downtown. I loved romping around and exploring a bit with my camera and willing models in tow. Since I do know the Arts District, that's where we started. The Winspear Opera House is always a favorite, with its awesome reflecting pool out front. We then headed over to the area around the Bank of America Plaza, where their wedding venue is located. I look forward to sharing their wedding photos with you too!

Bonsai!

A couple of weeks ago, I visited my sister in the Seattle area for a week. Besides our usual shenanigans that include laughing perfectly in sync, crafting, and drinking tea, we also set out on a few outings. We hit up the Pacific Rim Bonsai Collection and the Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden early in the week, where I went to town with my camera. With my busy schedule, I'm rarely able to carve out time to take photos purely for myself. It's so refreshing when I can. Here are some of my favorite shots I captured of the bonsai trees!

The trees in the rhododendron garden looked unnaturally large after admiring the bonsai!

Jen & Brian: Wedding at the Heard-Craig House in McKinney, Texas

On a gorgeous day in early June, I had the joy of shooting an intimate wedding ceremony in Katie's Garden at the Heard-Craig House in McKinney. With about 15 guests in attendance (myself included) and the groom's mother watching from afar via the wonders of video-conferencing, Jen & Brian said their heartfelt vows, sealed them with a pinky-promise with their children, and then the more standard kiss as well.

While it was by far the least amount of time I've ever spent covering a wedding, it ranks highly among my favorite weddings. Jen and Brian are so easy-going and down-to-earth. They made me feel incredibly welcome and included among their tiny guest list. Katie's Garden is a gorgeous space, particularly in the Spring, which makes my job easy! I'm thankful that the fates aligned and I was available on their date when they contacted me just a few weeks before the wedding!
