Newborn & Family Portraits in Carrollton, Texas: Kieran

This evening, I had a lot of fun with a family over in Carrollton, taking newborn and family portraits at their home. So that we can take breaks for feeding, comforting, diaper changes and the like, it's easiest to stick close to home with newborn sessions. I think there's something special about capturing photos in a place where so many memories are made anyhow!

Meet baby Kieran! At just under a month old, he was one alert little guy, despite our best efforts to coax him to sleep. That's alright - I don't mind seeing his beautiful eyes either!


Big brother Ayden was of course an important part of our session as well. He's five, the same age gap as exists between me and my big brother. Props to Ayden for not sticking his tongue out or anything as was the case in all of my baby photos with my brother... ;)

Lewisville Newborn Portraits: Daniel

Today I had a fantastic session with Daniel, the newborn baby of some of my very first wedding clients, Kate & Greg. In fact, the third anniversary of their McKinney Cotton Mill wedding is this week, and tomorrow I shoot another wedding at the Cotton Mill! Happy coincidences. :) We really couldn't have asked for better behavior from baby Daniel. There's no better word for this baby than perfect. I enjoyed working in some Autumn props with this October newborn, as well as my new miniature radio flyer wagon prop that I'm a little bit in love with. We worked some in his nursery, but I'm also thrilled that the muggy weather today was perfect for wandering outdoors with a newborn!

Sneak Peek: Wyatt's Newborn Portraits

On Sunday, I drove out toward Denton to capture some photographs of a brand new Culpepper baby. I've photographed them three times before as a family of three, but now they are four (not to vaguely reference A.A. Milne or anything). Marshall and my husband Opie have been friends since long before I came into the picture, and now they work crazy hours together for the same company. It's nice to see him for something more pleasant than engineering co-working! He and Paige are such devoted parents. Kayla and the newest addition Wyatt will want for nothing.

Wyatt wasn't too keen on this whole photo shoot idea, but I outwitted him and caught some keepsake images anyway. Kayla loved on her little brother in the breaks between showing off her dance moves and trying to feed him with her doll's baby bottle.

Busy Bee

All summer long, I worked 2 jobs in addition to my beloved photography gig, and also took a summer school course. In short, I've been busy, busy, busy. My summer graphic design internship with a retail company very happily became a bonafide position! Interestingly enough, I'm doing a -ton- of product photography at work. We're a very small art department and as such, all of us wear many hats. I'm obviously happy to don my photography hat whenever I can.

While I've certainly also been fitting in my own photo shoots on the weekends and the rare free weekday, my sanity has required that a few commitments fall by the wayside, like, y'know, blogging. Updates have still been going up pretty frequently on my facebook page, but my sister's blog roll reminds me everyday that it's been 2 months since you heard from me here. Whoops. While I'm still plenty busy with my new position and the new school semester, I'll try to pop in here more often.

Well, that was quick...

Meet baby Will, my new nephew, born this morning. As you might recall, I posted my sister-in-law Melissa's maternity photos last week. Well, he made his appearance today about a month early, but he and momma are doing quite well besides. He's a 5 lb 7 oz cutie.
