Christmas Family Portraits: The Dredge Family!

Fall is finally here! These 85°+ days sure don't feel like it, but the trees are telling a different story. I'm glad the leaves put on a show just in time for the Dredge family's Christmas card photos! I've photographed Allison several times before (as you might notice, she's the pretty lady in my header that I desperately need to update considering I shot those bridal portraits in 2009). This is the first time I've gotten to photograph her little one and her husband Devin though! They're a good-looking family, for sure.

Allison is a costume designer by trade, and I think it shows through in the awesome outfits she styled for the three of them. They'll be perfect for their Christmas cards. I look forward to getting my copy in the mail!

I do still have a few sessions available this month, in time to print photos for holiday cards and Christmas gifts. Contact me at cyrus.mary@gmail.com to discuss booking a session!

Montana!

I'm playing a little catch up right now, because last week I went on vacation to Big Sky, Montana! I think I'm all caught up on my emails now, but I have a bit of an editing queue built up from my last few weddings and portrait sessions, so I have late nights ahead of me for a week or two to come. I want so badly to dive into all of the photos from my trip right now, but I'm having to satisfy myself with editing just one photo per night. Here are the photos from the last 3 evenings, all shot on day trips into Yellowstone National Park.

It was a little cold. It was also breathtakingly beautiful.

Married: Shannon & Josh!

Congrats to Shannon, my friend of over fifteen years, and Josh, the man who was smart enough to marry her!
Best wishes to you both. I hope you're enjoying the honeymoon!
I look forward to sharing more of their wedding at St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen, Texas with you.

Downtown Dallas Engagement: Sara & Cullen

This wasn't truly an engagement session in that Sara and Cullen were already married. They did still have a wedding to throw though! That's a bit of a long story, but suffice to say that I photographed these pseudo-engagement portraits and the second wedding back in June. With the craziness of the last few months, I'm only sharing them now.

I had a lot of fun with this shoot. As the suburbanite that I am, I don't spend a lot of time downtown. I used to ride the train down to the Arts District pretty often, and I've been to Stars games at Reunion and American Airlines arenas, but that's just about the extent of my familiarity with downtown. I loved romping around and exploring a bit with my camera and willing models in tow. Since I do know the Arts District, that's where we started. The Winspear Opera House is always a favorite, with its awesome reflecting pool out front. We then headed over to the area around the Bank of America Plaza, where their wedding venue is located. I look forward to sharing their wedding photos with you too!

Bonsai!

A couple of weeks ago, I visited my sister in the Seattle area for a week. Besides our usual shenanigans that include laughing perfectly in sync, crafting, and drinking tea, we also set out on a few outings. We hit up the Pacific Rim Bonsai Collection and the Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden early in the week, where I went to town with my camera. With my busy schedule, I'm rarely able to carve out time to take photos purely for myself. It's so refreshing when I can. Here are some of my favorite shots I captured of the bonsai trees!

The trees in the rhododendron garden looked unnaturally large after admiring the bonsai!
