Child Portrait Photography in Allen, Texas: Ada

At the end of last summer, I did a very quick little portrait session with my husband's goddaughter, Ada, at our neighborhood park. This adorable, five-year-old little Miss is Trouble with a capital T. Cute, cute trouble. It was fun explaining to her that no, I would not be marrying her father (my husband's best friend), despite her sing-song suggestion that we would be geeetting maaarried, because I'm already married to her godfather... and because her dad isn't going to marry every woman they spend time with. Here are a few of my favorite photos from Ada's mini-session!

Earthbound Photography: Curiosity Shop

About this time last year, I did a home decor photo shoot for Earthbound Trading Company featuring the 2013 Curiosity Shop collection. If you've ever heard me refer to my "day job", this is the kind of thing it entails. Curiosity Shop has been a strong collection for Earthbound for the last few years, and this iteration was no exception. Kudos go to the home decor buyer, Justin, for picking some awesomely intriguing pieces. The shoot was staged at a vacant bar in disrepair down in Deep Ellum. It was ridiculously grimy and grungy, and was kind of perfect for the shoot's vibe. Direction and styling by Renee Gick. All photography by me!













These photos then wound up being used in store windows at all 120+ Earthbound locations, as well as on the company's website and social media channels.

It will entail long days and sore muscles from holding all sorts of crazy stances in the name of good photography, but I'm sure we will come away with photos that will make it all worth it.

McKinney, Texas Family Portrait Photographer: The "D" Family

My friend Allison is a very talented costume designer, and her skill set always shows through in the outfits she puts together for her family portraits. Hats and fascinators are often Allison's personal fashion statement, and I always look forward to seeing her latest headwear every time I photograph her. She had some awesome bridal fascinators when she posed for my first portrait session with my first DSLR back before I launched a business. She probably posed for me some when I was still shooting film in high school too, though I don't recall any fancy hats back then. She got the opportunity to work two different outfits (with 2 hats, of course) during 2012's holiday season, because in addition to the portrait session with her husband and daughter, we did a session with her parents and 4 younger siblings.

We only did one holiday portrait session this year, but this was a big one. Look for a surprise halfway down the page!







Congrats Allison & Devin! Scarlett will make a great big sister to baby girl #2! I felt super special to be the first person they told, so I could help them pull off this surprise for their family. I actually knew before Scarlett since she couldn't read her sign...
